The San Francisco 49ers are trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday.

Samuel, who was due $21.7 million in 2025, requested a trade which the 49ers were willing to fulfill, according to general manager John Lynch. Now, Samuel is headed to the NFC East.

In 2024, Samuel recorded 51 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed 42 rushes for 136 yards and one score.

The Commanders’ social media account tweeted out a GIF of Deebo from the movie “Friday.”
