According to the UFL Transactions page, the Michigan Panthers signed offensive lineman Grant Miller, acquired offensive lineman Cam Carter from the Houston Roughnecks, and placed defensive end Breeland Speaks (shoulder) on the injured reserve list on Monday.
Grant Miller is six foot three and weighs 306 pounds. The 26-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on March 10, 2025. He attended training camp and the Stallions released him on March 20, 2025.
The Los Angeles Rams signed Grant as an undrafted free agent on May 15, 2023. Miller spent most of the 2023 season on the practice squad. In 2024, he played two preseason games. The Rams released him on August 25, 2024.
Collegiately, Miller played three seasons at Vanderbilt (2018-20) playing center in 31 games for the Commodores. In 2020, Vanderbilt averaged 14.78 points per game, 110.1 rushing yards per game, 219.9 passing yards per game, 330 yards per game, 17 touchdowns, and allowed 19 sacks finishing 0-9 for the season.
Then, Miller transferred to Baylor (2021-22) playing right guard in 26 games for the Bears. In 2022, Baylor averaged 32.15 points per game, 182.4 rushing yards per game, 231.46 passing yards per game, 413.8 total yards per game, 56 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks finishing 6-7 for the season making an appearance in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Miller was named First Team All-Big 12 by Pro Football Network, Second Team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press and Phil Steele, and a Big-12 Honorable Mention in 2022.
Cam Carter is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 27-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, re-signed with the Houston Roughnecks on August 23, 2024. In 2025, Carter played two games. Houston is averaging 15 points per game, 4.6 rushing yards per game, 117.5 passing yards per game, 196 total yards per game, two touchdowns, and allowed five sacks.
The New Jersey Generals signed Carter on March 30, 2023. In 2023, he played nine games. New Jersey ranked seventh in passing yards (1,620), fifth in passing touchdowns (11), first in rushing yards (1,342), and fourth in rushing touchdowns (10) in the 2023 season.
The Houston Roughnecks signed Carter on February 28, 2024. In 2024, Carter played 10 games, of which 8 were starts. Houston’s offense ranked last in total touchdowns (17), seventh in total yards (2,550), rushing yards (744), yards per game (255.0), and fifth in passing yards (1,806).
Collegiately, Carter played four seasons at Murray State (2016-19) making four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in 38 games for the Racers.
Marcus Simms is six foot and weighs 194 pounds. The 27-year-old from Bowie, Maryland, re-signed with the Michigan Panthers on January 10, 2025. In 2025, Simms made seven catches for 65 yards, and one touchdown in two games.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Simms as an undrafted free agent on July 11, 2019. The Jaguars released him on August 9, 2019. Next, Simms signed with the Michigan Panthers as a free agent on June 8, 2022. In 2022, Simms spent the season on the Michigan’s practice squad.
A year later, Simms made four catches for 28 yards, and six kick returns for 243 yards with a long of 67 yards in seven games for the Panthers in 2023. In the North Division Semifinals against the Pittsburgh Maulers, Simms made three catches for 30 yards, one touchdown, one carry for 15 yards, and four kick returns for 106 yards.
In 2024, Simms made 23 catches for 426 yards, and three touchdowns in eight games. In the USFL Conference Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions, Simms made three catches for 32 yards. He was named to the All-UFL Team after the season. The Panthers released him on July 16, 2024.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Simms on July 24, 2024. He was placed on injured reserve and did not see any action. The Seahawks released him on October 29, 2024.
Collegiately, Simms played three seasons at West Virginia (2016-18) with 87 catches for 1,457 yards, eight touchdowns, two carries for four yards, 41 kick returns for 992 yards, and 23 punt returns for 157 yards in 33 games for the Mountaineers.
Breeland Speaks is six foot three and weighs 285 pounds. The 29-year-old from Jackson, Mississippi, re-signed with the Michigan Panthers on February 3, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles (6 solos), and two tackles for loss in two games.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Speaks in the second round (46th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Kansas City with 24 tackles (15 solos, 9 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 16 games, of which four were starts. In addition to Kansas City, Speaks had stints with the Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Buffalo Bills.
Then, Speaks signed with the Michigan Panthers on December 22, 2022. In 2023, Speaks made 53 tackles (25 solos, 28 assists), six tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup in ten games for the Panthers in 2023. In the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Maulers, Beaks made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist). He was named to the All-USFL Team in 2023.
The Panthers released Speaks on August 10, 2023, and he signed with the San Francisco 49ers on August 11, 2023. He played three preseason games with four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists). The 49ers released him on August 27, 2023, and he re-signed with the Panthers on December 29, 2023.
In 2024, Speaks made 32 tackles (24 solo, 8 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 10 games. He was named the UFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. The Panthers released him on August 8, 2024, and he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on the same. Speaks made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist), and 1.5 sacks in two preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 25, 2024.
Collegiately, Speaks played three seasons at Ole Miss (2015-17) making 121 tackles (50 solos, 71 assists), 15 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 32 games for the Rebels.
