BetOPENLY MLB Survivor Pool 4/23/26

By Shawn Stewart

MLB Streak Survivor

Before we get into today’s slate, let’s look at the foundation of MLB Survivor. The goal is simple: Stay alive.

  1. Select One Winner: You pick one MLB team to win their game outright every day.
  2. Survive and Advance: If your team wins, you move on to the next day. If they lose, your entry is eliminated.
  3. The “No-Repeat” Rule: On platforms like BetOpenly, you can only use a team once per season. This is where the real strategy comes in—you have to decide when to burn an elite team and when to save them for a better matchup later.

Core 586 Strategy

  • Pitching is King: Look for lopsided pitching matchups (Aces vs. Rookies).
  • Avoid the Coors Effect: The thin air in Colorado makes games too unpredictable for Survivor.
  • Ride the Streaks: Fade teams on long losing skids and back teams on home winning streaks.

Yesterday’s Recap (4/22/26)

Yesterday was a textbook example of why we follow the logic.

  • The Official Pick (Chicago Cubs): WIN. The Cubs took care of business at Wrigley with a 7–2 win over the Phillies.
  • The Value Play (Arizona Diamondbacks): WIN. The D-backs offense exploded for 11 runs to secure the victory.
  • The “Stay Away” (Royals vs. Orioles): This was a 14-run shootout that could have gone either way. We were right to stay out of the line of fire.

Today’s Survivor Slate: April 23, 2026

The Official Pick: Chicago Cubs (-175)

  • The Matchup: Philadelphia Phillies at Chicago Cubs (2:20 PM EST)
  • The Pitchers: Cristopher Sánchez (PHI) vs. Edward Cabrera (CHC)
  • The Logic: If you haven’t used the Cubs yet, don’t overthink this. The Phillies have lost 9 straight. Edward Cabrera (2-0, 2.38 ERA) is locked in, and the Cubs are playing with massive confidence at home. Ride the wave until it breaks.

Other Games to Choose From (The Value Plays)

  • Arizona Diamondbacks (-156) vs. Chicago White Sox: If you burned the Cubs yesterday, Arizona is your go-to. Michael Soroka (4-0, 2.78 ERA) has been dominant, and the White Sox are struggling to find power against right-handed starters.
  • Detroit Tigers (-142) vs. Milwaukee Brewers: You’re getting Tarik Skubal (3-2, 2.08 ERA) at home. Skubal is a “stopper” who keeps the ball in the park and misses bats. It’s a high-floor play for a Thursday afternoon.

The “Stay Away” Trap: NY Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

  • The Risk: Rivalry games at Fenway are pure chaos. With two unproven starters (Schlittler vs. Tolle), this game is a coin-flip. Avoid the drama and pick a game with more stability.

The “Coors Field” Rule: Padres vs. Rockies

  • The Risk: Matt Waldron is carrying a 14.73 ERA into the Denver thin air. This is a recipe for a double-digit scoreline that could ruin your season. Stay away.
